18 Dec 10 Cleveland Browns: Could Jonathan Haggerty Have Helped a Struggling WR Group?

The Cleveland Browns are sitting in third place in the AFC North in this 2010 NFL regular season and even though their playoff chances seem slim right now, they are poised to play the spoiler against every team that is playoff-bound for the remainder of this season. How great would it be for the Browns to Reebok Minnesota Vikings #69 Jared Allen Realtree camo Jersey
beat the Pittsburgh Steelers and/or the Baltimore Ravens in the final two weeks of the season and ruin one of their playoff chances? It would be a sweet ending to the season. but that is not the point of this article. The point is it right now is that many Browns fans are jumping on the, "We need a wide receiver," bandwagon with Georgia junior A.J. Green topping the list. Remember that Green is only a junior and there is no guarantee that he will even declare his eligibility. Also, what if undrafted rookie receiver Jonathan Haggerty never got injured in the first preseason game this season? Haggerty is a 6'1", 200-pound receiver who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds. During training camp, there was a buzz for Haggerty by both the coaching staff and reporters in attendance. It is quite evident that the Browns could have really used his skills. A four-year starter from Southwest Oklahoma State, Haggerty had 59 receptions for over 750 yards and six touchdowns as a senior. Not stellar stats in college, but he has great work ethic and is highly intelligent as said by Browns coach Eric Mangini during training camp before the start of Reebok New Orleans Saints #9 Drew Brees Realtree camo Jersey
the 2010 season. Regardless of what could have happened, Haggerty is a prospect who should get his shot at making the team once again next training camp and helping a receiver group that sorely could have used his talents this season, too.
